Congrats! Jack's Kindergarten Graduation

Jack has officially graduated from kindergarten. I don't think he quite realizes all of the doors that this is opening up for him. We thought that his first graduation from preschool last year was a big step, but this is quite an accomplishment. Now he only has to graduate two more times (5th grade and 8th grade) before he can actually graduate high school. No wonder people don't want to "walk" at their college or graduate school commencements, it is their six or seventh time, they probably have graduation burnout.

Actually, his ceremony was pretty cute. They had a processional to "Pomp and Circumstance" and wore little paper mortar boards. They sung a few songs (one that involved doing the robot, which if you've read my earlier posts you know Jack is very good at), watched a slideshow of kindergarten pictures, and received their certificates from the principal.

Kindergarten Baby Shower

I am the room parent for Jack's kindergarten class and today we got to have a baby shower for his teacher. It was so much fun! The kids played baby related concentration (memory), and cut strings to guess how big her belly was. Surprisingly, most of them were pretty close! The kids ate food and then watched their teacher open presents. Even six year olds say, "Ahhhh, how cute!" when watching baby presents being opened. They also laughed hysterically when she opened a present that revealed diapers and wipes. Oh, elementary school humor!
Jack has had such a good kindergarten experience this year, I'm sad it's coming to an end. His teacher is so great, and he has a really fun class. I've been able to volunteer in his classroom once a week and do the class parties, and really get to know the kids. One little troublemaker even told me I was beautiful today, (this was after he threw a chair after not being able to sit where he wanted, he must have been happy I let him stay at the party.)
Even though I will miss Jack's kindergarten, I am looking forward to a break after keeping to such a schedule with his school, Ellie's preschool and dance, and what not. I'm excited for summer and hoping the weather will soon actually feel like summer!

Ellie's Preschool Celebration

Ellie had her last day of preschool on Thursday. It was a celebration to show the parents all they learned this year. Her class introduced themselves by spelling their names in sign language, sang songs, and counted. The preschool keeps a scrapbook for each kid throughout the year and they made a DVD slide show. It was all very cute. Ellie will miss her friends and her teacher Miss Tia.

Viva Las Vegas! - or - Happy Birthday Clint and Julie!

Last weekend to celebrate Clint and our friend Bambi turning the big 3-0, we went to Las Vegas with Bambi and Shawn, and our friends Phil and Terra. The kids stayed home with Grandma Nanner and Grandpa John, and we had a great time! We stayed at the Wynn and had a great time shopping, eating, relaxing at the pool, hanging out at the spa, and eating more. We went to see Spamalot, which is hilarious! We had seen it in Boise a few months ago, but there weren't a lot of other shows down there right now that we all wanted to see. John O'Hurley (J. Peterman from Seinfeld) was supposed to play King Arthur, but was replaced by an understudy, but it was still really good. (We saw John walking around the casino the next night, the big bum!) On the way to Las Vegas, the airline lost my luggage that had my clothes, shoes, and a Coach purse in it. I was pretty upset until I learned that they would reimburse me to replace the items that I had lost, so I had fun shopping knowing someone else had to pay for it!

Happy Birthday Baby!

Happy Birthday Lucy!

Lucy loved her birthday, she was so excited it was finally her turn to open presents, and get sung to, and blow out candles. She of course opened her presents first thing in the morning, her most favorite was her Dora the Explorer bubble blower. Lucy made us sing to her twice and she even joined in on the singing!

Happy Birthday Jack!

Jack turned six on April 18th. This is our week of birthdays, I turned 29 on April 17th, Jack six on April 18th, Lucy two on April 20th, and Clint 30 on April 21st. Whew!Jack was very excited to open his presents as soon as he woke up!
Jack had a few friends come over after school for pizza, and cake and ice cream. Then Clint took them all bowling, and their dads came too. Everyone had a lot of fun!

Ouch!

Ellie is our accident-prone child. If there is anyway possible to get hurt, she will find it. About six months ago, she needed stitches two differents times. Once in her bottom after sitting on a cup in the bathtub, and once in her chin after falling on the living room carpet. This is her latest wound.

Poor girl! Ellie tripped on the floor at dance class and bit her lip. Her lip was puffy and hurting for a few days, but luckily no stitches this time.
